Grillz in Paris 18th – Montmartre
Montmartre is two neighbourhoods wearing one postcode: the hilltop village around the Sacré-Cœur and place du Tertre that fills with tourists climbing the butte for the view, and the steeper, denser streets running down toward Barbès and Château Rouge that carry the real daily pulse of the 18th. Marché Barbès under the elevated métro line is one of the loudest, most colourful street markets in Paris, selling fabric, spices and fresh produce to a crowd that reflects the arrondissement's West African and Caribbean communities, and Château Rouge has long been a centre for that culture, with hair salons, fabric shops and restaurants lining the rue Dejean.
Lower down, rue des Martyrs and the Pigalle-adjacent streets have gentrified hard over the past decade, bringing wine bars and concept stores within a few hundred metres of some of the most mixed, working-class blocks left in central Paris. It is this contrast — tourist hill above, dense multicultural street life below — that makes the 18th one of the more genuinely interesting arrondissements to walk, and one with a real appetite for jewellery and gold as personal style rather than costume.
Grillz Paris takes appointments across the 18th without a fixed shop — a mould taken either centrally near Châtelet or during a home visit arranged around Montmartre or Château Rouge. Clients here range widely, from tourists wanting a one-off souvenir piece to local residents ordering gold or diamond-set grillz as part of an everyday look, and every booking goes through the same deposit-and-cast process regardless of where in the arrondissement you are.
